Homework should take no longer than 40 minutes a night (20 minutes of
reading and 20 minutes of additional homework)
Every Night:
Read for 20 minutes and log
Practice math facts (5 to 10 minutes. This can be an adult just giving
them some basic questions so child can practice recalling those facts; can be
flashcard practice; playing math games online, etc.)
Specific Nightly Homework
Monday – Thursday: math, reflection, word study, etc. homework. This
will be either a sheet or on Edmodo. This will be specified in child’s planner
every night
Friday: Science
Studies Weekly (a new magazine will be sent home every Friday and are due back
by the following Friday. Homework includes: read magazine – can count as 2
reading logs, take quiz online, do puzzle on back of magazine)
Nightly Reading Logs should....
1. Be in the planner
2. Include Title and page numbers read
3. Be written in complete sentences.
4. Should be at least two sentences long -- remember give me evidence
for your thinking!
5. Vary -- don't use the same response starter every night. Change it up
each night.
