Narrative Stories

Here they are! After a month of working hard on our narratives, here are the final products.

We first researched an animal of our choice. Then we personified those animals and gave them human traits. From there, we began mapping out our stories. We made sure they had a beginning, middle, and end; a theme; and a problem and solution. We took our brainstorm and wrote a draft. We typed our draft. We revised, edited, and finally had our final draft!

Once we had our final copies, we took on the role of illustrator! We made pictures to go along with our story. The final step, we made a movie of our illustrations as we read our story aloud.

We have worked really hard on these stories. We are so proud of these final copies; we hope you enjoy them too!

Animal Classifications

In science we were given a variety of animals: different mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, amphibians, and more. We then had to decide how to divide these animals into two different groups. After much debate and deep thinking, we finally cracked the code! Invertebrates vs Vertebrates!

Is It Fair?

This week in math, we were given a challenge! A class was divided into 4 groups on a field trip. Group one had 4 people sharing 3 sub sandwiches equally. Group 2 had 5 people equally sharing 4 subs. Group 3 had 8 people equally sharing subs. Finally, group 4 had 5 people equally sharing subs. We had to determine, was this fair?

After debating, drawing pictures to prove our thinking, and supporting our opinions with math, we made posters to represent our thinking. Our class took a gallery walk to observe our own posters. We then took a gallery walk through Mrs. Cadima's room to see if her class had similar thoughts to our thoughts. It was interesting for us all to see the different ways we solved this problem. While we may have solved it in different ways, in the end we all agreed that this definitely was not a fair distribution.
