Math Riddle
Today, we really stretched our math expertise by solving math riddles that required great problem solving skills. The last problem really stumped us! So far, only two of us have solved it correctly. Will anyone else have the correct answer Monday morning??

Poetry Cafe
Today we wrote poems based on famous heroes. After writing some poems, we transformed our room into a coffee shop and hosted a poetry cafe. Jazz music playing, the background set, poets sprinkled around the room ready to share their writing. Be sure to ask your child about their poem!

Student-Led Conferences
The students will be
holding student-led conferences. These conferences will provide an opportunity
for your child to reflect upon their achievements during the year and to
provide you with examples of what they have learned in each of the academic
areas. We emphasize that these are student-led
conferences and the teachers
will be attending as observers, but not as active participants.
The conferences will be
held Monday, March 23rd and Wednesday, March 25th.
Sign-ups will be on volunteer spot again at: http://vols.pt/UByXTQ.
We wanted to make you
aware of some things that will be different from typical conferences so that
you are not caught off guard.
- There are multiple conferences going on at once. So there will be other families in the room when you arrive – they are supposed to be in the room. Please just come on in; your child will know what to do!
- My main job during the conferences will be to listen and float between the different conferences. Your child is prepared to lead the conference. I will jump in when / if needed. Some kiddos need a little more assistance, while others tend to take off on their own.
- You will end the conference with some goal setting. Your child has already made 2 goals: 1 by themselves and 1 made by me. You and your child will set a 3rd goal together.
- Most obvious - it is student-led. That means you need to bring your child with you
We view this as an
extremely positive opportunity for your child to emphasize their strengths,
acknowledge their growth areas, and, with you in attendance, plan for their
approach to the remainder of the year. Please make every effort to be part of
this conference. This is an opportunity to open up or improve lines of
communication with your child about their education. We strongly encourage you
to be a positive part of this conferencing process.
Finally, if
you are not able to come in at all, please let me know. Your child has worked
hard and I know would still want to share their progress with you – we can send
the materials home and they can talk to you at home.
If
you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you for your
support!
